CAT25-S SUPPORT Module
CAT 25 Support Module is designed to provide other shelters with power, water, decontamination, and sometimes heat and filtered air while isolating generator and fan noise. Redundant slow speed water cooled diesel generators are located along one side of the module with 4,750 gallons of fuel under the floor. Cooling and combustion air is filtered by MCAS 600 NBC air filtration units that supply breathing quality air to the generators and sometimes other shelters. This module can include a battery bank for DC power to other shelters, decontamination stations, fuel tanks under the floor, washers and driers, trash compactors, water filtration, workbench,and spare parts. This unit with it's decontamination capability serves as the personnel entry when fallout, toxic chemicals, or pathogens are suspected. Entry can be through any of the standard entranceways including a personnel elevator. The CAT25-S is usually connected by tunnel or stairway to another shelter with a bulkhead door inbetween.. Generator exhaust and cooling air are mixed to avoid thermal signatures by ground and airborne target acquisition equipment. Generator coolant can be circulated through a heat exchanger to heat shelter water and floors further reducing the thermal signature.
